I'm sure my Dad never imagined that oneday I would own cattle. He passed away in 2008 two years before I bought my first heifer. So unlike some cattle families you won't see him standing next to me with his arm around my shoulder lined up outside the cattle barn. But what he gave me is my go for it spirit and the confidence to believe in myself and trust in hard work and good intentions. He valued honesty, integrity and kindness to strangers and friends. Those values always stand with me. Through my actions, I bring you just a little bit of my dad, Frederick.
When my Mom unexpectedly passed in 2012, I heard "Your Mom was my best friend" again and again. She was just that kind of lady. She was gracious, caring and giving and she was always there for me. She had a fun loving spirit and I'm thankful I had the opportunity to share many trips and adventures with her not only as a child, but as an adult. She hopped on the back of my motorcyle at 70 and had I let her, at 78 she would have galloped my horse right down the main street of my small Rhode Island town in which I introduced them. We decided against that particular adventure. That's just a bit about my Mom, Shirley.
